    Jess Breach

Jess Breach has become one of the most exciting names in women’s rugby. Known for her speed, sharp finishing and fearless attacking style, the England and Saracens winger has built a strong reputation on the international stage.

Her rise has been shaped by discipline, hard work and a love for sport that began during childhood. From playing rugby in West Sussex to winning the Women’s Rugby World Cup with England, her journey reflects the growth of women’s rugby in Britain.

Jess Breach’s Early Life and Family Background

Jess Breach was born on 4 November 1997 in Chichester, West Sussex. As of September 2026, she is 28 years old. She grew up in an active sporting environment and discovered rugby when she was only six. Her first club was Chichester RFC, where she developed the basic skills that later shaped her professional career. At the age of 14, she moved to Pulborough RFC, gaining stronger competition and valuable experience.

Rugby was not her only sporting interest. During her school years, she competed in sprint hurdling at the English Schools Athletics Championships. She also played netball and hockey and took part in gymnastics at county level.

From School Sport to Elite Rugby

Her pace and movement quickly made her stand out. England invited her to training camps when she was 16, giving her an early opportunity to work within the national talent system.

She represented England in under-18 sevens rugby and helped the team win European titles in 2014 and 2015. These achievements showed that she had the speed, balance and confidence needed for international competition.

    Jess Breach’s Club Rugby Career

In 2016, Jess Breach joined Aylesford Bulls Ladies. Her first senior season was highly successful, as she helped the club win both the league and cup double. The club later became connected with Harlequins Women, allowing her to continue her development in a stronger professional environment. She played for Harlequins from 2017 until 2022.

    Success with Harlequins Women

During her time at Harlequins, she became a regular attacking threat. Her acceleration allowed her to exploit gaps in defence, while her finishing ability made her a constant danger near the try line. Harlequins won the 2020–21 Premier 15s title. Breach was part of the successful team but missed the final because of an ankle injury. The setback was disappointing, yet it did not slow her progress.

    Move to Saracens

In 2022, Jess Breach joined Saracens Women. The move gave her a new challenge and placed her in one of the strongest women’s rugby environments in England. Saracens soon benefited from her attacking qualities. She scored 23 tries during her first two seasons with the club, strengthening her reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous finishers. Although she is best known as a winger, she has also played at full-back. This change helped her develop a broader understanding of the game, including positioning, defensive organisation and counter-attacking play.

    Jess Breach and England Rugby

Jess Breach made her England debut against Canada in November 2017. It was one of the most memorable first appearances in international women’s rugby, as she scored six tries. A week later, she added five more tries in her second appearance. Her start with the Red Roses immediately placed her among the country’s most exciting young players.

    Six Nations Progress

In 2019, she received a full-time England contract. She played in the Women’s Six Nations and finished as the tournament’s leading try scorer. She scored two tries against France in a match that England won 41–26. Her ability to turn a small opening into a clear scoring opportunity made her a valuable part of the team’s attacking plans. By the time of the 2020 Six Nations, she had scored 22 tries in her first 13 Tests. These numbers demonstrated how quickly she had adapted to the demands of international rugby.

Rugby Sevens and the Commonwealth Games

Jess Breach also represented England in rugby sevens. She was part of the England team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, where the side won a bronze medal. She later competed at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, helping England secure another bronze medal. Sevens rugby improved her fitness, open-field running and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

Jess Breach at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup

Jess Breach was selected for England’s 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup squad. The tournament became one of the most important achievements of her career. She scored a hat-trick against Samoa during England’s 92–3 victory. The performance also helped her reach 50 international tries, a major milestone for any rugby player. During the tournament, she earned her 50th England cap and recorded her 50th victory in an England shirt. She finished as England’s leading try scorer, contributing six tries to the team’s successful campaign.

    A World Cup Winner

England went on to win the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. The victory added the biggest honour of Breach’s career and confirmed her place among the country’s leading rugby players. Her performances showed the qualities that have defined her career: speed in open space, sharp finishing, confidence under pressure and the ability to perform on the biggest stage.

    Playing Style and Strengths

Jess Breach is best known for her explosive pace. Once she finds space, she can cover the ground quickly and create pressure before defenders have time to recover. Her footwork is another major strength. She can change direction sharply, step past defenders and use small gaps to begin dangerous attacks.

    Finishing Ability

Her try-scoring record reflects her strong awareness near the line. She knows when to hold her position, when to accelerate and when to attack the outside shoulder of a defender. She is also comfortable receiving the ball at speed. This allows England and Saracens to use her in wide attacking moves, counter-attacks and broken-field situations.

    Development at Full-Back

Her experience at full-back has added another dimension to her game. The position demands stronger communication, better defensive positioning and greater awareness of the entire pitch. This experience has helped her become more complete as a player. It has also increased her value to coaches, who can use her in more than one position during demanding matches.

    Education and Career Beyond Rugby

Jess Breach studied Sports Communication and Marketing at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, from 2019 to 2022. She graduated with an Upper Second-Class Honours degree, commonly known as a 2:1. Balancing university studies with elite sport required strong organisation and time management. She has spoken about the value of teamwork, communication and empathy, all of which have influenced her approach to rugby and future career plans. She has a particular interest in sports marketing and social media. Her experience as an international athlete gives her a clear understanding of how clubs, players and sporting organisations connect with supporters.

Jess Breach’s Partner and Personal Life

Breach has kept much of her personal life private. She has previously spoken about her relationship with Archie White, an English rugby player and former Harlequins flanker. The pair met during their time at Harlequins. Their shared experience of professional rugby helped them understand the demands of training, travel, injuries and competition.

Breach’s social media accounts mainly focus on rugby, fitness, travel and friendships. A recent holiday post showed her enjoying 72 hours in Dénia, Spain, with friends. She also mentioned a minor car accident in an airport car park but did not provide further details.

    Social Media and Public Image

Breach has built a growing audience through Instagram and other social platforms. Her account reflects her life as an athlete, including training, matches, travel and moments with teammates. She is also connected with sporting brands and talent representatives. Her online presence supports her work as a rugby player while allowing her to promote women’s sport to a wider audience.

Her friendly personality and professional attitude have helped her become a positive figure for younger players. She demonstrates that sporting success can develop alongside education, communication skills and wider career interests.

    Jess Breach’s Future in Rugby

At 28, Breach remains an important player for England and Saracens. Her experience, speed and ability to play across the backline give her a valuable role in modern rugby. The next stage of her career may bring further domestic titles, international tournaments and leadership opportunities. Her continued development at full-back could also make her even more versatile.

A Role Model for Young Players

Breach’s journey offers an encouraging example for young athletes. She began at a local rugby club, played several sports, studied at university and progressed to the highest level of international competition. Her success proves that talent is only one part of achievement. Consistency, preparation, education and the courage to recover from setbacks have all played a major role in her career.

    Conclusion

Jess Breach has established herself as a powerful attacking force in English women’s rugby. Her remarkable international debut, successful club career, Commonwealth Games medal and World Cup triumph have made her one of the sport’s most recognisable players.

With her pace, experience and ambition, she remains a key figure for England and Saracens. Her achievements on the pitch and interests beyond rugby ensure that her influence can continue long after her playing career reaches its final chapter.
